Daniel Hammond

  • Daniel grew up with the conversation of lighting in the household because of his father’s passion and career.
  • Daniel’s first love however was music and started playing the piano at age 6, thereafter he progressed to the trumpet and saxophone and later in life the guitar.
  • After graduating at City Varsity, Daniel worked as the lead sound engineer at the Theatre on the Bay in Camps Bay before emigrating to Scotland for 3 years.
  • Returning to South Africa after 3 years abroad, his father Phil Hammond, South Africa’s leading lighting expert, offered to tutor and mentor him in lighting design – an opportunity that Daniel jumped at!
  • Over the last 5 years, Daniel has grown into a first class light designer. A true perfectionist, he is considered to be a “go to man” when it comes to lighting design.
